North Gungahlin Woodlands On-Ground Works Are Complete!

A recent Office of Nature Conservation survey found Common Dunnarts to be persisting in the Northern Woodlands. However, urban encroachment is looming… What can we do to build resilience into the landscape?

This project saw 9 habitat nodes installed amongst 800 native plants. Natural Waterscapes worked meticulously, placing each barrel and branch to mimic a naturally fallen tree and create refuge areas for Dunnarts.

Then, Wyola Native Seeds and the First Nations Conservation Training Program team planted trees and shrubs to connect scattered patches of remnant woodland with the new habitat nodes. Spring has almost sprung, and the plants are establishing well!

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust and delivered by ACT Natural Resource Management, a member of the Commonwealth Regional Delivery Partners panel.
